The Need is Now: Announcing AmeriCorps Emergency Response Initiative

To help meet urgent and emerging community needs related to COVID-19, we are excited to announce a new statewide initiative in partnership with our state commission, ServeMinnesota.

The AmeriCorps Emergency Response Initiative will help nonprofits, school districts and governmental entities increase their capacity to respond to new, unexpected and increased needs brought on by the COVID-19 crisis.

It’s an important opportunity for our state and one that we hope will open a pathway to service for some of the thousands of Minnesotans who have recently lost their jobs.

Members will serve 35 hours a week, providing support for emergency food distribution, assisting with distance learning, helping older adults cope with social isolation and more. Service sites are applying now and will be made public on April 30, 2020.

Term of Service: 300 hours (June 8 – August 15)
Stipend: $650 every two weeks
Health Insurance: Individual coverage with no monthly premium
Education Award: $1,289.95 for tuition or student loans

Please help us spread the word by sharing this news in your networks! To be part of the Emergency Response Initiative, candidates should apply by Wednesday, May 20, 2020
