Reading Corps and Math Corps Awarded Design Badges from Stanford University Initiative
We are proud to announce that Reading Corps and Math Corps are both among the inaugural cohort of tutoring programs to earn badges from the National Student Support Accelerator (NSSA) at Stanford University!
The NSSA is an initiative dedicated to taking new and emerging research into supporting student success through tutoring and turning it into real action. As part of their work this year, they have introduced Tutoring Program Design Badges, which are given to organizations with “a research-aligned program design” whose methods meet “fundamental tutoring quality standards.”
“It’s wonderful confirmation of our commitment to evidence-backed solutions,” says Sadie O’Connor, President at Ampact. “This is the reason why we are always testing and refining our tutoring techniques to keep up with the latest research. We use all available evidence to ensure we give our students the strongest possible support.”
To receive a badge, a program must be evaluated by a third-party team of education leaders and experts, who follow criteria laid out by the NSSA. Those criteria are based on the organization’s Tutoring Quality Standards and include excellence of instructional materials, program effectiveness, student progress measurement, and student-tutor relationships among others.
With research at our core, it’s no wonder that kindergarteners in Reading Corps perform twice as well as their peers and Math Corps students are twice as likely to meet end-of-year math benchmarks. We are proud to be recognized for our dedication to evidence-based interventions that help more students succeed!
